    *Seyfried Lammers (1647-1711) design for an allegorical ceiling decoration, for the castle chapel at friedenstein, in gotha. Numbered: 3, and indecipherably inscribed, lower left, and elsewhere in the composition. Pen and black ink and gray wash, with touches of brown ink. 328 by 390mm. Lammers worked principally in his native Gotha. In 1696/7 he was commissioned by Friedrich ii von Sachsen-Gotha to decorate the castle chapel at Friedenstein, for which this is a design. Other studies for the same composition are in the Kupferstichkabinett, Dresden (inv.C1976-13) and a German private collection. Also at Friedenstadt, Lammers painted a series of frescoes depicting the war against the Turks.
