Helmut Lander, Sculpture, Head, Germany, 1995

      Est: €480 - €600

Bronze, polished and partially patinated Germany, 1995 Helmut Lander (b. 1924) – German painter, draftsman, sculptor and filmmaker Signed, dated and numbered on the center piece ‘La 95 14/50’ Edition of 50 Sculpture in three separate parts Dimensions: 11.6 x 12.5 x 8.5 cm Very good condition Tectonic sculpture with mobile elements In the late 20th century, German artist Helmut Lander created various sculptures in the shape of heads, using all sorts of varied designs. This work consists of three separate parts: two pieces of polished bronze and one centerpiece with dark patina. By dividing the head in such compartments and allowing them to interlock like constructive features, Lander refers to the synergetic interconnection of the senses. Through the principle of grading and tectonic construction, the artwork becomes convertible and movable. Thus being able to dismantle, grading or rearranging the head sections, the viewer himself becomes an active protagonist. the centerpiece of the work is signed, dated and numbered ‘La 95 14/50’. The sculpture is in a very good condition with minor signs of wear. The surface of the bronze is minimally scratched in places. The dimensions are 11.6 x 12.5 x 8.5 cm.
