HERMAN LANG CASED AUTO RACING NAZI MEDALLION

Herman Lang presentation cased Auto Racing Medallion. Hermann Lang (1909-1987) German Champion race car driver of the Mercedes Benz Gran Prix racing team. Won 5 of 8 races he started in 1939 but the season was cut short due to WWII. He was declared European Champion by German Racing Authorities. He was presented this table medal for his win and record setting time in the Grossglockner Race on the High Alpine Road in Austria August 6, 1939. The medallion features Lang sitting in his Mercedes Racer with a gold swastika above him. Medallion is engraved Greater German Champion for Motor Sports and facsimile signed by Adolf Huhnlein leader of the NSKK. The reverse of the medal is engraved with Langs accomplishments. Comes in original fine leather case. Lang went on to a successful race career after the war. Medallion measures 4 3/4". Case measures 6". excellent.
