Lankes (American 1884-1960) - "Noon Hour" - Woodcut signature and 31 (1931) ALSO Pencil signed in the lower left - With dedication to Michael Agiler - Title in the Right corner - Image 8.5 x 6.75 Frame 15.25 x 14. Very strong image - Lankes lived for a time & had a studio in Hilton Village in Newport News. He also illustrated the poem New Hampshire by Robert Frost.

Two Julius Lankes (American 1884-1960) original woodcuts published 1930s-1940s by American Artists Group, New York. First woodcut of grazing horse is signed in the image and dated 1936. Image size 7.375 in x 10.25 in. Sheet size is 13 in x 18 in. Printed on watermarked laid stock. Second woodcut of haying is signed and dated 1937 in the image. Both prints in excellent condition. Published 1930s-1940s by American Artists Group, New York. If lot is absent of a condition report a condition report may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as grading can be subjective. A tonal black and white woodblock print depicting a rural wintertime scene with a small cottage at center surrounded by snowy meadow with treeline in back, beside the cottage a pair of children play and to front of cottage a man chops wood, the scene set below a clear sky with stars and crescent moon.
