Some of course would give gladly to the . . and these could be gotten - especially the ones you don't want by publishing an appeal in the Transcript, the Chicago Post, the N.Y. Times Book Revue and the Poetry Review, 12 Chauncey St.Cambridge. You see I am thinking chiefly of the poets, popular novelists and illustrators. their signatures would have a greater commercial value. The authors club tried the scheme for some cause last year and did not make very much. Only genuine celebrities really comma nd a good price. All this sounds very pessimistic but there are a few people I could write to if you would like to have me do so.."
