Loretta Lee creates pastel paintings of florals and landscapes which emphasize the rhythmic grace, color, and design of nature. Her work, rich in color and texture, has a luminous quality achieved by a thorough understanding of color temperature and value relationships. Her artistic perception of the intimate connection between man and nature is suggested in her wonderfully tranquil and skillfully executed works. Their meditative quality reflects her feelings of man’s regard for our natural heritage, and responsibility to live in harmony and preserve the fragile beauty of our world.

Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rochester Institute of Technology, NY and a master’s degree in oceanography from Old Dominion University, VA. She worked as an environmental scientist and proposal/copy writer before pursuing the serious study of art at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. Her award-winning work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, including the Connecticut Pastel Society, State of the Arts Gallery in Hartford, and Pfizer, Inc. She is a member of the Connecticut Pastel Society, the Essex Art Association, Friends of Lyme Academy and Alumni Association, and Lyme Art Associaiton. Her paintings are part of private and corporate collections throughout the East and Midwest.
