Walter Lees, Color Photograph, ‘The Amber Palace, Jaipur’, 1996

      Est: €248 - €310

Chromogenic print on Kodak paper Jaipur/India, 1996 Walter Lees (1916-2010) - French photographer and collector Signed and dated with ‘Walter Lees 1996’ lower right Inscribed with ‘The Amber Palace Jaipur’ lower left Matted under glass in gilt wooden frame Size of photograph: 25.5 x 20.2 cm Very good condition Townscapes and architecture were the favorite subjects of Walter Lees (1916-2010), an avid art and antique collector who devoted himself to photography since the late 1980s. Many of his views are from India and Russia and became the leitmotif of his oeuvre. Here is a view of the Amber Palace in Jaipur, the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan. The photograph probably shows a section of a niche of the facade, which is distorted in an interesting way by the perspective of detail. The photograph is signed and dated with ‘Walter Lees 1996' lower right and inscribed with ‘The Amber Palace Jaipur’ lower left. The reverse bears the address of a former owner. It is matted under glass in a gilt wooden frame. The photograph and the frame are in very good condition, showing minor signs of use. The dimensions of the paper are 25.5 x 20.2 cm, and the frame measures 39 x 24 cm. (cko) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
