        The artist came from northern Bohemia (born in Langenbruck/Dlouhý Most), studied at academies in Prague and Vienna, and settled in Vienna in 1858. He specialized in cheerful depictions of children and putti in allegorical or decorative compositions to decorate villas and hotels. Stylistically, it belongs to the Neo-Rococo period. On the baroque balustrade, three putti play cards with childlike seriousness. A fourth putto hovering above them throws gold coins at them from a cornucopia. Low vases with flowers standing on pedestals frame the scene. Due to the subject of the painting and its size, the painting could have been used to decorate a casino.

        (1831 Langenbruck/Böhmen - 1898 Weissenbach an der Triesting) Monumentalgemälde mit Putten beim Kartenspiel und einem goldgefüllten Füllhorn als Allegorie des Reichtums Szenische Darstellung an einer prunkvollen, steinernen, mit Blumenschalen verzierten und umrankten Balustrade, auf der drei männliche Putten sitzen bzw. liegen und Karten spielen. Über ihnen im Himmel schwebend ein Mädchenputto, der aus einem Füllhorn Goldstücke hinabwirft. Großformatiges Hauptwerk Leflers, der an den Akademien von Prag und Wien studierte und sich 1858 im florierenden Wien der Ringstraßenzeit niederließ. Er malte bevorzugt allegorische Kinderdarstellungen, Genre- und Historienbilder, teilw. im Makartstil. Öl/Lwd.; L. u. sign.; 153,5 cm x 251,5 cm. Rahmen. Oil on canvas. Signed.
