      Jean LeGassick (Born 1950) "Cat Harbor Evening" (Catalina Island) Oil on Board. Plein-air painter Jean LeGassick has always wanted to be an artist. She studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and later worked in commercial art while continuing to paint on her own. After a workshop in plein-air painting with Michael Lynch, LeGassick decided that she would be a plein air artist. Jean LeGassick loves to be outdoors experiencing nature first hand as she paints. Every summer she mule-packs into the Sierra Nevada Mountains camping in remote spots to capture the warm first light. For LeGassick, the wilder the nature the better though she also enjoys painting architecture, boats, agricultural land and cityscapes. These paintings give her a chance to use a more vibrant palette and to challenge her skills.
