        Winter Sports In France Original Vintage Poster by Jean Leger

        In the post World War II era, tourist travel was increasing as the economic surge was enjoyed by people with more leisure time and discretionary income available. With its many ski related winter destinations, it was only natural that the Government of France through its Tourist Board created a series of promotional posters for winter sports in France. In the poster designed by an artist named Jean Leger we see the 2 skiers in the background with the charming bird in a snow topped birdhouse in the foreground. This same image was also printed with French text. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

Frontespizio allegorico inciso in rame e frontespizio tipografico con fregio xilografico, nel primo tomo una grande carta topografica ripiegata fuori testo "Carta delle tre Valli di Piemonte" ripresa da quella del Crasso e incisa su rame da I. Somer nel 1668 e 4 incisioni nel testo di argomento zoologico e botanico; nel secondo tomo 29 incisioni in rame nel testo raffiguranti le torture cui furono sottoposti i Valdesi durante la loro persecuzione, testatine e finalini xilografici, manca il ritratto dell'autore, fioriture, qualche alone di umidità, legatura coeva in piena pelle, dorso a 5 nervi impresso in oro, tassello con titolo, mancanze alle cerniere, spellature. Ex libris araldico settecentesco di un membro della famiglia marchionale francese Le Peletier, probabilmente Louis Le Peletier de Rosambo, al contropiatto.

This image was created to promote Winter Sports in France and this poster with its German text was used in the German market. The same image can be seen in French text as well as English text. The artist Jean Leger uses the image of the robin to call to the skiers to come to France to enjoy the snow clad mountains. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
