          Est: $200 - $300

Oil painting of sheep, Scott Leighton

          Est: -

Oil painting of sheep, Scott Leighton Oil on stretched canvas of sheep in a landscape signed to viewer's lower right "Scott Leighton". Leighton was a Maine artist most known for equine painting who painted horses for a short period in Central Kentucky. A much better execution than the several stiff equine paintings I have encountered. This painting likely a Maine or New England scene. Scuff aside boulder, otherwise excellent condition with no punctures. A bath may brighten it a bit. 20" x 25 ¼" framed to 26" x 31 ¾". Probably last quarter of the 19th century New England origin.
