They are lying in the grain. In the background the grain is being harvested with a scythe. Signed "Lemagny" at the bottom left of the image. Paul Pierre Lemagny grew up in Lorraine, Picardy and Normandy. He was a pupil of the sculptor Elie Raset and the engraver Adolphe Crauk. In his later years, he explored the ideas of the philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
