      STANISLAW I: (1677-1766) STANISLAW I: (1677-1766) Stanislaw I Leszczynski. King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania 1704-09, 1733-36. A very fine A.L.S., Stanislas Roy, one page, 4to, [Luneville], 21st October 1748, to the Bishop of Metz, in French. Stanislaw explains to his correspondent that there is nothing which could have pleased him more than giving satisfactory responses to the Bishop´s demands, stating `Rien n´est comparable, mon très cher Evêque au plaisir que je ressens de vous donner en toute occasion des marques de mon inviolable amitié et par consequent rien de plus décevant pour moi quand je ne peut pas me satisfaire sur mon désir… Mon allié vous dira toute l´histoire des Régimens des Milices… Vous en êtes le maistre aujourd´hui…´ (Translation: “Nothing is comparable, my dear Bishop, to the pleasure I feel in giving you on every occasion signs of my inviolable friendship and consequently nothing is more disappointing for me when I cannot satisfy my desire... My ally you will tell the whole story of the Militia Regiments… You are the master today…”) Paper with watermark. With blank integral leaf. One very small corner crease, otherwise G to VG

      STANISLAW I: (1677-1766) Stanislaw I Leszczynski. King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania 1704-09, 1733-36. A very fine A.L.S., Stanislas Roy, one page, 4to, [Luneville], 19th February 1752, to the Bishop of Metz, in French. Stanislaw refers to the loss of a close and beloved person, stating `Tout ce que vous me dites à l´occasion d´un si funeste évènement que ma douleur extrême ne m´ôte point les sentiments de ma plus vive reconnaissance que je dois à votre souvenir qui m´est bien consolant en vous voyant prendre part à ce qui me touche. C´est une perte que toute la raison ne pourra jamais cesser de regretter…´ (Translation: ''Everything you say to me on the occasion of such a fatal event, that my extreme pain does not deprive me of the feelings of my deepest gratitude that I owe to your memory which is very consoling to me in seeing you take part in what touches me. It is a loss that all the reason will never stop regretting…'') With blank integral leaf. Very small minor age wear. G

      STANISLAW I: (1677-1766) Stanislaw I Leszczynski. King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania 1704-09, 1733-36. A very fine A.L.S., Stanislas Rey, as King, one page, 4to, Luneville, 9th January 1748, to the Bishop of Metz, in French. Stanislaw sends his new year greetings and refers to his correspondent´s health troubles stating in part `Vous n´êtes pas le seul à plaindre mon cher Evêque, je mérite de l´être toutes les fois que je n´ai pas le plaisir de vous voir, et d´autant plus par la cause qui m´en a privé de l´incommodité de votre fluxion qui me donne de l´inquiétude, si le voyage ne l´a point empiré…´ (''You are not the only one to pity my dear Bishop, I deserve to be so every time I do not have the pleasure of seeing you, and all the more so for the cause which deprived me of it, the discomfort of your fluxion which gives me anxiety, if the trip has not made it worse…'') With blank integral leaf.       STANISLAW I: (1677-1766) Stanislaw I Leszczynski. King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania 1704-09, 1733-36. L.S., Stanislas Rey, as King, one page, folio, Luneville, 25th May 1740, to the 'Venerables chers et amies' at the Abbaye de Rangevel, in French. Stanislaw I writes following the death of Antoine Rollin, an oblate at the abbey, and notifies his correspondents that it is his intention to send Claude Vayeux (?) to replace him as an oblate, and to whom the abbey will provide sustenance for his life time. With integral address leaf bearing a blind embossed seal. A few neat, small slits and some light overall age wear, about VG
