PROVENANCE Hanart TZ Gallery, Hong Kong Private Collection, Europe LITERATURE Susan Acret ed., A Strange Heaven, Contemporary Chinese Photography, Prague, p. 79, illustrated in color Chinese Century ed., Paris-Pékin, Paris, October, 2002, p. 119, illustrated in color NOTE I wanted to find a place where "east meets west." It's Cat Street (officially called Lascar Row) located between Central and the Western district (the Chinese title for this piece is: Between the Middle (kingdom) and the West). I made 6 pinhole pictures of the intersection along and around Cat Street. Then I arranged them according to their position shown on the map. -Liang Zhihe
