Very good condition Carefully manipulating light, line and shadows, this untitled portfolio by Op Artist Mon Levinson is comprised of four unique elements - screenprint on Plexiglas, paper construction on Strathmore, clear and frosted plexiglas construction, and screenprint and acrylic construction. Bold and graphic, this portfolio demonstrates Levinson's unparalleled optical skill. Executed in 1969, this portfolio is signed and numbered on two elements. Each measures 20 ¼ x 20 ¼ inches. The paper construction has a small crease in the upper right corner. Otherwise, each in overall good condition. Mon Levinson (American, 1926-2014) Inspired by Jean Arp and the Russian constructivists, Op Art sculptor Mon Levinson was best known for his abstract compositions made of nonart materials, like plexiglass and whiteboard, which used light, reflection, and shadow to create dynamic lines and moiré patterns. He received his BA from University of Pennsylvania, and his first solo exhibition was at the Kornblee Gallery in New York in 1961. His works have been collected by the Whitney Museum of American Art, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and Museum of Modern Art.
