A French Sculptor born in Paris, Levy trained under Armand Toussaint (1806-1862).
Levy exhibited works at the French Salons from 1873 to 1898, where he was awarded a third-class prize in 1889.

Levy’s works are finely modeled bronze figural sculpture depicting working men and women. They are decorative and beautifully finished or chased with fine coloring of patina. It is reported that many examples of his best sculpture were sent directly to the United States without display in the French Salons.

        VENUS Höhe: 71 cm. Am Sockel im Guss „CH. LEVY“ signiert. Bronze, gegossen, mit schöner dunkler Patina. Auf einem felsenartigen Sockel sitzende Schönheit, ihre Scham durch weiche Drapierung bedeckt, diese ist mit Blumen und farbigen Cabochons geschmückt. Das rechte Bein vorgestreckt und das linke zu sich gebogen. Der Körper neigt sich leicht nach vorne und der Blick richtet sich nach unten. Zwei naturgetreu wiedergegebene Tauben bereichern die Komposition. Levy war ein berühmter französischer Bildhauer, studierte bei Armand Toussaint an der École des Beaux-Arts, Paris, zwischen 1873 und 1898 regelmäßig mit Portraits und Genrefiguren auf den Ausstellungen im Salon des Beaux Arts vertreten.
