      Est: €4,000 - €4,800

Lewandowsky, Via The Shadow of Your Smile (abgeschmiert). 2008/2020. Installation in den Räumen des Sammlers. Fortlaufende Edition. 100 x 30 cm.

      Via Lewandowsky (b. 1963), Bona Fide 2, Acrylic, 1999

      Est: €2,400 - €3,120

Acrylic on canvas Germany, 1999 Via Lewandowsky (b. 1963) – German artist, lives in Berlin Signed ‘Via’, dated ‘99’ and titled ‘Bona Fide 2’ on the reverse of the stretcher or the canvas respectively Dimensions: 130 x 130 cm; frame: 131.5 x 131.5 cm Good condition Provenance: Private property, Berlin Botanic study of a butterfly combined with a device reminiscent of an old gas mask with large valve. Realized in the style of an enlarged copper engraving on a pattern of ornamented leaves.  In the late 1980s, Via Lewandowsky develops so-called reproductive painting. He collages image templates from antiquarian botanic books and transfers them to the canvas. The combination of botanic study with opposing elements creates alienated images of the vulnerable nature. Condition:  The painting is in very good condition. The frame has traces of use and is slightly dusty. The stretcher measures 130 x 130 cm and the dimensions of the frame are 131.5 x 131.5 cm. Via Lewandowsky (b. 1963) After studying at the University of Fine Arts in his hometown Dresden, Via Lewandowsky moved to West Berlin shortly before The Turn in 1989. Scholarships and work trips led him i.a. to New York, Peking, Los Angeles and Rome. His complete oeuvre comprises a variety of artistic media and methods. During his studies, he was a member of the Autoperforationsartistik, who used subversive actions to break out of the standardized art scene of the GDR. The artist organized together with the poet Durs Grünbein performances in the gallery Weißer Elefant in East Berlin. He worked jointly with his wife Pina from 1989 to 1995. Since the 1990s, his work focuses on sculptural installativen works as well as object art. (tm) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
