With his wife Louise, they built a thriving company, she looked after the business side and John focused solely on the creative output. Their store on Newbury Street in Boston, one of the most fashionable areas in the city, located in a 19th century brownstone building, shared the street with other well-known brands including Armani, Laura Ashley and Pierre Deux. He became very well-known for his iconic loop necklaces and bracelets, examples of which we can see in this auction. The simple yet elegant design was an instant success and worn by famous clients who enjoyed the expert craftsmanship and beauty of the jewellery. Raleigh's jailer and Guradian of Pocahontas' infant son.- Stucley (Sir Lewis) To the Kings most Excellent Maiestie. The humble petition and information...touching his owne behaviour in the charge committed unto him, for the bringing up of Sir Walter Raleigh, and the scandalous aspersions cast upon him for the same, first edition, first issue, with drop-head title preceded by original blank leaf A1, woodcut decorations, old marbled boards, rebacked, [STC 23401; Sabin 93235; Church 374A], 4to, Imprinted...by Bonham Norton and John Bill, 1618. ⁂ The scarce true separate first issue, issued with a drop-head title not a title-page. Stucley, Vice-Admiral of Devon, guardian of the infant son of the famous Pocahontas, and apparently King's spy, was appointed keeper of Raleigh on the latter's return from the Orinoco. Because of his supposedly unfair conduct, he became hugely unpopular and known as Sir Judas Stucley. He issued this pamphlet in his own defence. He also refers to the old grudge he had against Raleigh for deceiving his father on a voyage to Virginia in 1584. A year after this was published Stucley was convicted of clipping coin and, despite being pardoned by the King, he died a social outcast, raving mad, on the island of Lundy.

Shakespeare; and now revised and adapted to the stage, first edition, variant with press figure 4 on p.58, half-title with imprimatur verso, woodcut head- and tail-pieces and decorative initials, a couple of small wormholes near head, turning into a trace in sigs. D and E, affecting part of the odd / a few letters on those latter ff., but without loss of sense, some spotting, lightly browned, disbound, [Jaggard p.304], 8vo, Printed by J. Watts, at the Printing-Office in Wild-Court near Lincolns-Inn Fields, 1728. ⁂ The Arden Shakespeare (edited by Brean Hammond, 2010) considers this 'a further redaction of an adaptation made in the Restoration of a collaborative play called 'The History of Cardenio' by Shakespeare and Fletcher'. It is based on an episode in Cervantes' Don Quixote. Theobald faced accusations of forgery from contemporary and later critics, including Alexander Pope, but more recent scholarship argues for a place in the Shakespeare canon.

Frederick Carlton ["Carl" Lewis was born on July 1, 1961 in Birmingham, Alabama], an American athlete and runner. One of the greatest athletes in the 20th century is an Olympic champion, world champion. Won 10 Olympic medals, including 9 gold, won 10 medals in the world championship, of which 8 gold. Set a world record twice a 100 meter run. 4 times in a row Olympic champion in the Long Jump. Won four gold medals at the Los Angeles Olympics, 48 years after the famous athlete, Jesse Owens, did it for the first time. Lewis is from a poor family who, as a young man, had trouble communicating with children. Due to the fact that his parents did not have the money to pay a babysitter, his parents brought him with them to play in the jumping pit in the framework of an athletics team that they had trained. Finally Luis and his sister joined the group. As a child, Lewis was thin and small, and his talent did not stand out. His parents did not expect a future in sports, but nevertheless encouraged him to do what he loved and set himself high goals. Lewis's role model was Jesse Owens, whom he had heard from many of his father, and had even met him at an event organized by his father. Lewis, who was 9 at the time, engraved in his memory the phrase "Spend Life" that Owens had taken out of his tongue, and went in his spirit in his long career. At the age of the brigade Lewis began to grow and grow and emerge from the "weak" image. At the age of 14, he had already jumped 6.01 meters. At the age of 13 Lewis began to compete for a long jump for his school - the Wellingborough High School, which proved to be a promising athlete. As a teenager he was one of the best jumpers in New Jersey, and in his final year of studies he was already one of the world's leading jumpers. A few days after graduating high school in 1979, Lewis broke the high school record by a long jump and set it at 8.13 meters. Lewis dominated the 100 and 200 meters and in Long Jump was almost unshakable from 1981 to the early 1990s. Was chosen many times during these years as Athlete of the Year. He set world records in the 100-meter run [the first athlete to drop 10 seconds and set a world record for 9.92 seconds] and the 4X100 relay. The world's longest jump in the hall (8.79 meters) since 1984. His 65 consecutive victories, over a period of more than 10 years, in the jumping hole, is considered one of the greatest triumphal sports competitions. His many achievements have earned him great fame as well as the titles of "Athlete of the Century" awarded to him by the International Olympic Committee, as well as "Olympic Athlete of the Century" by the popular sports magazine Illustrated. A set of resin copies of the Lewis Chessmen together with a board decorated with celtic patterns. The Lewis Chessmen were probably made in Trondheim, Norway, c. 1150-1200. They were discovered in early 1831, buried in the Outer Hebrides which, in the 12th century was part of the Kingdom of Norway, not Scotland. The 12th century Chessmen consisted of elaborately worked walrus tusk in the forms of seated kings and queens, bishops, knights on their mounts, standing warders and pawns in the shape of obelisks.
