      Est: €4,700 - €5,000

FRANCISCO LLORENS DÍAZ (A Coruña, 1874 - Madrid, 1948). "Landscape with church". 1929. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the lower left corner. Measurements: 50 x 34 cm; 74 x 57 cm (frame). Three cypresses are aligned to the foreground, hiding next to high pines the houses of a town of which we only saw some roofs and turrets. Francisco Llorens uses here a palette rich in green shades (dark and emerald with lemon and cerulean touches). Resolved in post-impressionist language and close to Cezanne, the author manages with ease at a compositional and plastic level. Trained in Madrid, Francisco Llorens was awarded an honorary mention at the National Exhibition of 1895, and in 1903 he obtained a pension to further his studies in Rome. He also visited the Netherlands, and continued to participate in the National Exhibitions, being awarded a third medal in 1907. Later he will also obtain second medal (1908) and first (1922), titles that are added to others obtained in the International of Barcelona (1907), the International of Buenos Aires (1910) and the Universal of Panama (1916). He was also Grand Cross of the Crown of Belgium and honorary member of the Salón de Otoño, as well as a full member of the Real Academia de San Fernando since 1943. After the interruption of his activity due to the civil war, at the end of the war he was appointed honorary member of the Royal Galician Academy, and became a professor of landscape painting at the School of San Fernando. He is currently represented in the Prado Museum, the Nova Caixa Galicia Collection, the Museum of Modern Art in Madrid, all the museums in Galicia and in numerous provincial museums in Spain and America.

      Est: €9,000 - €10,000

FRANCISCO LLORENS DÍAZ (A Coruña, 1874 - Madrid, 1948). "Sunset in the village", 1906. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the lower left corner. Measurements: 100 x 150 cm; 105 x 155 cm (frame). In this piece we can observe a rural landscape with a post-impressionist aesthetics due to the loose brushstrokes and the importance of the light that faithfully reflects the time of the day. The author proposes a frontal view in which he places an empty space in the foreground, to dispose in the distance half animals and the figure of a woman. She is seated alone next to the portico of the church. Trained in Madrid, Francisco Llorens was awarded an honourable mention at the National Exhibition of 1895, and in 1903 he obtained a grant to further his studies in Rome. He also visited the Netherlands and continued to take part in the National Exhibitions, being awarded a third medal in 1907.
