TITLE: Reclining nude mixed media signed lower right 64 x 94 cm Renos Loizou was born in Paleometochon near Nicosia, Cyprus. In 1955 he moved to London. He was educated in London and Cambridge, and in 1963 he was awarded a scholarship to study at The Cambridge College of Art. In 1965 he travelled to Spain, Italy and Greece and begun a series of drawings and paintings. § Renos Loizou (Greek, 1948-2013) The Grape Garden, 1982 signed lower left "Renos Loizou '82" watercolour h:38 w: 56 cm Exhibited: The Garden National Painting Competition, April 1982. The Christopher Hull Gallery, 670 Fulham Road, London, SW6, Renos Loizou Exhibition, 1983, No.11. Renos Loizou studied at Cambridge School of Art (now part of Anglia Ruskin University). He had a consistent painterly eye and loved colour and the Mediterranean landscape. His first solo exhibition in Cambridge in 1969 so impressed Jim and Helen Ede, the founders of Kettle's Yard, that they purchased three of his paintings for their Loan Collection. Renos Loizou's work was much -collected both in his home town of Cambridge, and further afield in the USA and Mediterranean. Sadly in his later years his original great promise was dogged by ill health, resulting in his too-early death in 2013.
