after Francois Gérard's painting today preserved at the Musée National des Chateaux de Versailles et de Trianon. Etching, 670 x 490 mm (plate), 700 x 545 mm (sheet). Rare state before the addition of the title. LeBlanc 24. Copies of the print were used by the Prince as gifts (Le Blanc). Very fine, silver-tone impression printed on laid paper. Overall, very good condition, except for traces of foxing. Included: Noel Francois BERTRAND (Soysi sous Etiolles 1785 – Saint Ouen 1852) Sa Majesté Charles X Roi de France et de Navarre after Henri Buguet (1761 - 1833). Stipple, 670 x 555 mm (sheet). LeBlanc 201. Very nice, well inked impression on wove paper. Copy missing the lower margin with the legend, reconstructed. Otherwise in good condition.

Nella lettera il pittore chiede al suo corrispondente di recuperare ‘varie mie stampe’ che giacciono da Obicini ‘seppure non le ha già consegnate a Colnaghi ch’io avevo autorizzato a ritirare presso di lui’.

Giuseppe Longhi, Bonaparte à la bataille d'Arcole le 27 Brumaire an V. 1797.

Acquaforte e bulino, in coloritura. mm 430x315. Il dipinto raffigurante Bonaparte alla battaglia di Arcole fu eseguito da Gros a Milano a palazzo Busca nei mesi di novembre e dicembre del 1796. Nel corso di due settimane il ritratto fu completato e successivamente presentato a Bonaparte che "ne donna pas seulement des éloges à Gros, il consacra deux cent cinquante louis à la gravure de son portrait". (Bertarelli 1903, p. 22). La traduzione a stampa del dipinto venne eseguita da Giuseppe Longhi nel 1797, in soli otto mesi, allo scopo di presentare un lavoro che valesse come titolo di concorso al posto di professore d'incisione alle scuole di Brera, che era stato lasciato libero dal Vangelisti.
