      RYAH LUDINS, (New York, Ohio, 1896-1957), Watercolor/Paper, VILLAGE LANDSCAPE SCENE, 12 7/8 inches x 16 7/8 inches (sight) on sheet 13 ½ inches x19 inches, matted and framed under glass 18 inches x 21 3/8 inches overall. Signed “Ryah Ludins” lower right. The painting is suspended freely in the mat by a single tape hinge on top edge; it is not laid down or glued in. Condition: Excellent, colors are fresh and strong, no issues noted. She taught at Columbia University, exhibitions include the Museum of Modern Art, Chicago Art Institute, Whitney Museum of American Art, California Palace of the Legion of Honor, Society of American Etchers (award in 1931), etc.

      Ryah (De Fuentes) Ludins (American, 1896-1957) black and white lithograph, Dories, 1929. Signed and dated in pencil lower right. Titled and numbered 27 of 50 in pencil lower left. Matted. Ryah Ludins was a Russian-born American muralist, painter, printmaker, art teacher, and writer. She made murals for post offices and other government buildings during the Great Depression and also obtained commissions for murals from Mexican authorities and industrial concerns. Unusually versatile in her technique, she made murals in fresco, mixed media, and wood relief, as well as on canvas and dry plaster. Graphic arts and collectibles.
