Robert MacGregor Sold at Auction Prices

Painter, Illustrator

Scottish artist Robert MacGregor favored creating paintings of working-class people, such as fishermen, farm laborers, crofters, and shepherds. His paintings feature earthy tones. This use of tone and subdued color found its way into his later work, which were scenes of Scottish, French, and Dutch rural and coastal views. Although he began his career by working as a book illustrator, to become a painter, Robert MacGregor studied at the RSA Life Schools. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout Scotland, and Robert MacGregor's figural paintings for sale have commanded prices of over $21,000. Often classified as a genre artist, Robert MacGregor is an excellent painter who seems to have been inspired by Jean-Francois Millet. Aficionados of the genre can acquire exquisite figural paintings via sale or auction through Invaluable.
