Patinated terracotta sculpture Small-scale sketch in patinated terracotta of the "Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus" in the city of Palencia, popularly known by its location as "Cristo del Otero". The iconography of the work is that of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with the particularity of having his hands outstretched in an attitude of blessing the city at his feet. Its style is influenced by art deco and cubism, with a powerful monumentality reminiscent of the public works of antiquity. This monumentality and the large size of the final sculpture allow it to be related to other iconic colossal statues with a Christological theme, such as the 'Christ the Redeemer' in Rio de Janeiro or the 'Christ of Concord' in Cochabamba..134 x 38 cm. Base: 26 x 32 cm".

El monumento fue reproducido en los billetes de 50 pesetas, emitidos por la II República en 1935, en los que aparecía la efigie de Santiago Ramón y Cajal.
