Maetzel, wie Schmidt-Rottluff zeitlebens dem Expressionismus verpflichtet, umgibt die beiden tanzenden Frauen mit zackigen Formen, in deren Dunkelheit der Hintergrund mit den Silhouetten der beiden flankierenden männlichen Zuschauer im Vordergrund verschmilzt. Erschienen in sehr kleiner Auflage von nur sechs Exemplaren. Prachtvoller, stellenweise ganz leicht trockener, klarer Druck mit dem wohl vollen Rand, an drei Seiten mit dem Schöpfrand. Unter Glas gerahmt. - Lit.: Vollmer, Bd. 3, S. 294. Deutscher Maler, Grafiker und Architekt. Studium der Architektur in Hannover, Dresden und Paris. Ab 1907 Leiter der Städtebauabteilung in der Hamburger Baudeputation und Mitglied der Hamburger Sezession, deren Vorsitzender er zeitweise war. 1910 Heirat mit Dorothea Johanssen, mit der er vier Kinder bekam. 1937 wurden 5 seiner Holzschnitte als "entartet" aus der Hamburger Kunsthalle entfernt.
