    20th century. Australia. Aboriginal style oil on tree bark painting having a label on reverse identifying the artist "Magani Munjinu" (Mick Magani). Magani was a member of the Bangadi group the Jinang tribe and worked in the Arnhem Land, NT. Also on reverse collection information "W.W. Howells, from Arnhem Land November, 1961". Attached to the back a summary of the story of a man and wife who are out hunting accompanied by their dogs. Housed in a shadowbox frame. SIZE: Artwork 15" x 37". Frame 20-1/4" x 41-1/4" h. Wired for hanging. Approx. 29" x 17". The artist is from the Central Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. His work is in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Australia and the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection.: Overall surface grime and yellowed varnish with material loss at edges with separations in bark.
