Richard Marquis Art for Sale and Sold Prices

b. 1945 -

Richard received a B.A. degree from the University of California, Berkley, in 1972. He was already a practicing artist, having participated in the “Funk Art” exhibition at Berkeley in 1967 at the University Art Museum, Berkeley. In 1969 he worked at the Venini Factory in Italy, sponsored by a Fulbright scholarship. He was an early participant in the Pilchuck School as well as teaching in the Seattle and California’s Bay Area. On a Fulbright grant he traveled to and studied in New Zealand and Australia, where he received two grants from the Australian Crafts Council. He has been involved with two glass production businesses. By 1987 Richard launched his own studio practice that allowed him to create a wide variety of unusual works that mixed techniques of fabrication combining lampworking and blown or cast glass with found objects, toys, and mass-marketed manufactured artifacts. His works are represented in many U.S. museums as well as those abroad.
