Marsh gilt als einer der bedeutendsten amerikanischen Vertreter der Neuen Sachlichkeit; seine wichtigsten Schüler waren Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997), Harold B. Cousins (1916-1992) und George Clair Tooker, Jr. (1920-2011). Marsh ist besonders bekannt für seine Gemälde, Aquarelle und Radierungen von New York und Coney Island der 1930er und 1940er Jahre. - W.
