        Duard Marshall (1914-2010) Florissant, Colo. 1946 The lithograph from an edition of only 20 prints is signed and dated by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and titled lower left. An inscription lower center reads 'For Louis and Elsie Freund.' Louis Freund was an important Missouri Regionalist painter who executed murals under the New Deal and was responsible for the establishment of a number of schools for artists. Elsie Freund was an artist, jewelry designer and crafts person. Duard Marshall, most associated with Kansas City, Missouri, was also a muralist and a student of Thomas Hart Benton. Marshall was, for a time, himself a Regionalist portraying the American scene as demonstrated by the image being offered here. Image size 13.25 x 16, frame measures 22 x 25 inches.

The interesting Cubist influence creation 'Tourist in Munich', a block print and serigraph is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right, titled lower left, and numbered 15 from an edition of only 16 prints.' The Duard Marshall print 'At Bat' is included; signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right, titled lower left, and numbered 12 from an edition of only 15 prints. Duard Marshall studied with Thomas Hart Benton at the Kansas City Art Institute. At Bat image is 15.75 x 5.75 with a sheet of 18.5 x 7.5, and Tourist in Munich image is 18.25 x 14.5 with a sheet of 20.5 x 15.5 inches.         Duard Marshall (American, b. 1914), "Busy Harbor, Spain", c. 1940; oil/canvas, 37" x 49", signed. Marshall studied at the Kansas City Art Institute with John de Martelly and Thomas Hart Benton. Marshall worked as an assistant to Benton on the Truman Library mural and others. He exhibited throughout the 1930s-70s, at the San Francisco Museum of Art, Kansas City Art Institute, Oakland Art Gallery, National Academy of Design, Museum of New Mexico, Santa Fe, and the Library of Congress.
