Dagmar Martens Sold at Auction Prices

Dagmar Martens (German, 20th Century) was born in Hamburg during the 2nd World War. She studied at the Beaux-Arts and became a teacher. From 1961 onwards she made frequent trips to Provence. In 1980 She decided to devote himself entirely to painting, and settled in Gordes in Provence where she shares her life with the painter Hans Steffens. She uses gouache to create almost pointillist paintings which are inspired by both conventional and domestic objects, and landscapes through which she used to walk.

Martens" and dated "'78" to the lower right hand corner of the image. Gold colored frame measures 11" in height by 12" in width with the sight image measuring 7" in height by 8-1/7" in width. All measurements are approximate. In overall good condition. Provenance: this piece was acquired by Gallery K of Washington, D.C.
