Digital color photograph on photo paper, laid down on synthetic board Cuba, 2007 Lissette Matalón (born 1965) - Cuban artist Indistinctly signed lower right From the series 'Paisajes Urbanos' Matted and framed under glass Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm Very good condition Provenance: Private collection, Spain A crisp and poetic snapshot by the Cuban artist Lissette Matalón The present color photograph by Lissette Matalón (born 1965) from 2007 is part of her series 'Paisajes Urbanos' [Urban Landscapes]. An athletic, black man is captured while jumping into the waters on the shore of a sea. The deserted beach exudes something enraptured. The scene is bathed in a dusky evening light, and the glaring sunlight just breaks through in some places. Within this atmospheric lightning, the protagonist makes its appearance as a bird in the sky and becomes a symbol of perfect beauty. The photograph is indistinctly signed lower right, matted and mounted under glass in a black wooden frame. The condition of the photograph is very good, showing small creases of the protecting photo sheet at the corners. The overall dimensions, including the frame, are 65 x 85 cm. The photograph measures 50 x 70 cm. Lissette Matalón (born 1965) Born in Havana, the artist Lissette Matalón studied at the Escuela Elemental de Artes Plásticas and then at the Academia San Alejandro de Nivel Medio Superior, where she specialized in sculpture. She continued her studies at the Instituto Superior de Arte and the Complutense in Madrid. At the workshop of René Portocarrero de Serigrafía Artistica in Havana, she learned the technique of serigraphy. Every two years, the workshop organized an international artists meeting on the occasion of the Bienal de Arte de la Habana. These meetings enabled the artist to collaborate with such famous artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Mimmo Rotella and Joseph Kosuth and to keep a constant exchange with photographers, painters and critics.
