An einer Hausecke wachsen Winterastern mit rostbraunen, gelben und rosa Blüten empor mit davor abgelegten glänzenden Weintraubenreben. Der französische Landschafts- und Stilllebenmaler Kohler studierte an der École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. Öl/Hartfaser; R. u. sign.; 73 cm x 54 cm. Rahmen. Oil on masonite. Signed.

Paris: Edouard Pelletan, 1901. 8vo. Half-title, title printed in red and black, numerous wood engraved illustrations after Steinlen. Contemporary crushed morocco with strapwork frame made of four gilt-ruled lines, spine gilt in 5 compartments, gilt lettered in 2, purple morocco doublures, within black morocco inlay border, purple brocade linings, morocco turn ins stamp signed "G. Levitzky," gilt edges, in a slipcase. Provenance: Jacques Levy (his sale, Sotheby's 20 April 2012, lot 114).LIMITED EDITION, number 51 of 30 copies on china paper, of a total edition of 400. An amazing binding by the Russian/French binder Grégoire G. Levitzky (1844-1924). He moved from Odessa to Paris in 1910 and opened his bindery in the Rue de l'Odéon 22.

          A CLASSIC HISTORY OF THE CHURCH, 12 VOLUMES Henrion, Mathieu Richard. Storia Universale della Chiesa dalla predicazione degli Apostoli fino al Pontificato di Gregorio XVI. Mendrisio: Minerva Ticinese, 1838. 12 volumes in 8vo, half calf. Text in Italian. A classic History of the Church of the Romantic period, from the Apostles' preaching to the pontificate of Gregory XVI (1846). The Baron Mathieu-Richard-Auguste Henrion (1805-1862) was a French magistrate, historian, and journalist. After completing his studies in law, he became a member of the Paris Bar as avocat a la cour royale. Under the July Monarchy he was made assistant librarian at the Bibliotheque Mazarine; Napoleon III appointed him counsellor at the court of appeals of La Guadeloupe, whence he was transferred in the same capacity to the court of Aix, a position which he occupied until his death. An untiring writer, he contributed for the greater part of his life to Catholic and royalist periodicals, first to the Drapeau Blanc, then the Journal de l'Instruction Publique, and to others.
