      ALBRECHT MAYER (1875-1952) BASLER ELEKTRIZITÄTS. 1913. 38 1/4x26 1/4 inches, 97 1/4x67 cm. W. Wassermann, Basel. Condition A: minor tears at edges; creases in margins and image. Paper. Matted and framed. In the early days of electricity, allegorical figures wielding light and currents were often employed on posters. Here, a green woman with blue outline holds a white ring of electricity against a night sky and silhouette of Basel. The lettering in blue proclaims that this new energy source is good both "For household and industry."

Mayer' and 'Achau' Overall framed dimensions: 34 x 41 cm Very good condition This delicate oil painting has probably been painted by the German artist Albrecht Mayer (1882-1954) and shows a view of a lake with a village in the background. Presumably, it is the community of Achau in Lower Austria. The nature seems untouched - no one here bothers the infinite peace of the countryside. The viewer's attention falls solely on the glistening sun play on the cool lake water. On the lower right is the artist's signature 'A. Mayer'. The reverse of the painting was inscribed 'A. Mayer' and 'Achau' probably by another hand. The condition of the painting and frame is good with slight signs of use and aging. The color surface is a little soiled due to its age. The top right and the left side shows repairs under blue light. The golden wooden frame is in good condition with slight signs of aging. The overall framed dimensions are 34 x 41 cm. The hardboard measures 18.5 x 26 cm. Albrecht Mayer (1882-1952) Albrecht Mayer was born 1882 and died in 1952. He was a German painter who mainly painted landscapes in harmonious colours.
