      (1834 Kaniów Stary - 1917 Wien) Madonna in Früchtegirlande In fein lasierender Malweise, von den Nazarenern und Deutschrömern inspiriertes Werk Mayers, der u. a. durch Altarbilder sowie Fresken im Wiener Rathaus bekannt ist. Mayer studierte bei Leopold Kupelwieser und Carl Rahl an der Wiener Akademie und vervollständigte seine künstlerische Ausbildung 1862 in Venedig. Zwei Jahre lebte Mayer in Rom. Reisen führten ihn nach Deutschland, Belgien und Paris. Öl/Holztafel. Verso Widmung mit Dat. "Ihrer Durchlaucht (..,) aus Dankbarkeit Ludwig Mayer 1869". 39 cm x 31,3 cm. Rahmen. Oil on panel. Signed and dated 1869 with dedication on the reverse.
