McCormick lived in Germantown, Pennsylvania, and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia. She was the treasurer of the American Color Print Society and a member of the Provincetown Printers woodcut society.

      DESCRIPTION: Katharine Hood McCormick (American, 1882-1960). White-line color woodcut. Valley Forge. Titled and signed "Katharine H. McCormick imp" in pencil to lower margin. Katharine Hood McCormick was one of the original members of "The Philadelphia Ten", a group of women artists who held sixty-five exhibitions beginning on February 17, 1917 and continuing until 1945. The white-line woodcut is the first woodblock printmaking technique unique to the United States. Developed in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1915 by artist J.O Nordfeldt, a member of the Provincetown Printers, the technique is also called a Provincetown Print. MEASUREMENTS: 9-1/4" x 12". Overall with frame 14-3/4" x 17-3/4". CONDITION: Mild uniform toning. Remnants of tape from previous matting.
