The portfolio titled “Eden” consists of a total of four original etchings (edition 31 out of 91) of Belgian artist Francis Méan which are titled “Les Sources”, “Eden”, “Les Hôtel du Paradis” and “La Montagne”. Méan primes his etchings with delicate painting of landscape impressions. Those can be seen for example in the framed picture that comes with the ensemble and is titled “Les Sources” as well. It features the outlines of bare trees. The vegetative aspect is the prominent feature of this ensemble of religious subjects. All colour etchings are in excellent condition. The beautiful frame of the “Les Sources” etching shows only minimal traces of age and usage. The painting is signed, “Francis Méan”, at the lower right side and titled, “Les Sources”, at the lower left side. The overall dimensions of the “Les Sources” painting are 74 x 96 cm (framed) and 64 x 42.5 cm (cut out). The “Eden” portfolio by Francis Méan bears the edition number 31/91 and every single sheet is numbered individually. All sheets are signed, “Francis Méan”, in pencil. Inscribed transparent paper keeps them separated. A paper inscribed with „‘Les sources…‘Ein Fluss entsprang in Eden…“ (= Les sources… A river has its source in Eden) lies in front of the first sheet. In front of the second sheet titled “Eden” lays a paper titled “’Eden…’ Viele verschiedene Bäume ließ er im Garten wachsen” (= Eden… He allowed many different trees to grow in the garden), followed by „‘Les hôtes du paradis…‘Er setzte den Menschen in den Garten von Eden…“ (= Les hôtes du paradis… He put man in the Garden of Eden). The last sheet is titled „‘La Montagne…‘So waren nun Himmel und Erde erschaffen und nichts fehlte mehr…“ (= La Montagne… Thus Heaven and Earth were created and there was no more shortage of anything). The dimensions of the colour etchings are 80 x 60.5 cm each. They are printed on Velin Arches handmade paper and the portfolio was published by Lamers Art Agentur.
