Metal, painted wood, 1600 x 500 x 400 mm. “Erectus Rex” was inspired by “Empire of Passion”, a film by japanese director Nagisa Ôshima. “Erectus Rex” deals with the balance of passion and power of love. Untamed love can be dangerous as depicted by the bent shape of the sculpture resembling a samurai sword. The object has two heads containing shapes of a snake, bird and phallus. Both heads are facing different directions, thus being positioned in balance.
