Shown is the SMS Admiral Tegetthoff who traveled on an expedition within the Arctic in 1873. The light source in the dark sky is effectively reflecting on the bright white of the ice surface. The painting is signed lower right ‘Steffen Meier-Schomburg’ and titled lower left ‘SMS Admiral Tegetthoff 1873 im Packeis der Arktis’. It is overall in very good condition with only slight signs of wear, the image carrier is slightly curved, otherwise of good impression.
