    Daniel Meissner (1585 - 1635 ibid.): View of Aachen, Youth & Old Age, 1627, Copper engraving Technique: Copper engraving on Paper Inscription: Below is a distich in Latin, side by side, and below that a translation into German according to the meaning in a four-line stanza. The verses explain the meaning of the motto and the emblem. The illustration consists of two elements: In the foreground is an allegorical representation illustrating the theme, in the background is the city of Aachen. With this feature, the image follows the popular collections of cityscapes of the time, such as the Cosmographia by Sebatian Münster, which appeared in Basel in 1544 and was later reprinted several times. Date: 1627 Description: Inscribed above the image: "HAEC RUIT, ILLA FUGIT". Below thoughts on old age and youth in Latin and German. City view of Aachen with emblem scene and motto. Plate D79 from the work "Thesaurus philopoliticus" (German title: "Politisches Schatzkästlein"). It is a collection of copper engravings or etchings with vedute, which Daniel Meisner as poeta laureatus and Eberhatd Kieser as engraver and publisher published in Frankfurt am Main from 1623. Structure of the prints: The sheets of the 'Thesaurus philopoliticus' combine an illustration and a text section according to a uniform concept.
