Circle: Tactical Battle Map at Neerwinden (1693), c. 1700, Copper engraving Technique: Copper engraving on Paper Inscription: At the bottom left is the title: "The Allied army ready to meet, in their camp at Meerwinde, and the French army under the Marechal de Luxembourg. 1693, 19 July". Date: c. 1700 Description: This sheet shows the topographical map of the area near Neerwinden with registered tactical positions and troop units of the French under François-Henri de Montmorency-Luxembourg and the Allies under William III of Orange-Nassau. The Battle of Neerwinden on 29 July 1693 was one of the main battles of the War of the Great Alliance and ended in a clear victory for the French. It was one of the most costly battles of the 17th century. Schwer leserlich sign. und dat. 1712, von späterer Hand in Feder mit dem Künstlernamen beschriftet. 41,4 x 29 cm. Im Passepartout frei schwebend gerahmt (minimale Abplatzungen). • Die Porträtierte in Ganzfigur sitzend wiedergegeben. In ihrer rechten Hand hält sie eine Flinte, der linke Arm ruht auf einem Felsvorsprung, sodaß sie eine repräsentative, doch auch entspannte Haltung einnimmt. Kaum leserlich taucht ihr Name rechts unterhalb der Blätter auf der Felsenbank auf: "Therese v(on) St(rom)thal".
