    Est: €700 - €910

Digital silver halid print on Fuji Professional Paper Germany, 2008 Tatsuo Miyajima (b. 1957) – Japanese performance and light installation artist Signed ‘T. Miyajima’ and numbered in black felt tip pen ‘16/20‘ Plate 9 from the series ‘Counter Skin’ Image dimensions: 33 x 50 cm; sheet dimensions: 45 x 60 cm Frame: 57 x 73 cm Very good condition Tatsuo Miyajima’s artistic approach is based on three principles related to Buddhism: Everything is in a constant process of change, everything is connected, everything exists eternally. This endless cycle of life Miyajima often visualizes with numbers, as also seen in the present work. The photograph is part of the series ‘Counter Skin’, which refers to the American atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The artist photographed his sitters wearing numbers on their naked skin as it had once happened with the anonymous victims of the attack. The human being becomes a number, he is identified and anonymized at the same time. Condition The digital silver halid print is in very good condition. The image dimensions are 33 x 50 cm, the sheet measures 45 x 60 cm. The framed dimensions are 57 x 73 cm. Tatsuo Miyajima (b. 1957) Tatsuo Miyajima graduated at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1986. He was then active as a performance artist, but finally focused on light-based installations. In addition to numerous international art biennales, Miyajima has presented his works in many solo and group exhibitions, including the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing (2011), the Miyanomori Art Museum in Hokkaido (2010) and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney (2012). The artist was appointed Vice President of the Tohoku University of Art and Design in 2006. Today, he lives and works in Ibaraki, Japan. Digital silver halid print on Fuji Professional Paper Germany, 2008 Tatsuo Miyajima (b. 1957) – Japanese performance and light installation artist Signed ‘T. Miyajima’ and numbered in black felt tip pen ‘19/20‘ Plate 5 from the series ‘Counter Skin’ Image dimensions: 33 x 50 cm; sheet dimensions: 45 x 60 cm Very good condition Tatsuo Miyajima’s artistic approach is based on three principles related to Buddhism: Everything is in a constant process of change, everything is connected, everything exists eternally. This endless cycle of life Miyajima often visualizes with numbers, as also seen in the present work. The photograph is part of the series ‘Counter Skin’, which refers to the American atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The image measures 33 x 50 cm, the paper size is 45 x 60 cm.
