        ÖDÖN MOIRET* (Budapest 1893 - 1966 Vienna) Descent from the cross pastel/cardboard 66 x 52,5 cm SCHÄTZPREIS / ESTIMATE °€ 600 - 1200 STARTPREIS / STARTING PRICE °€ 600 The Hungarian-Austriat artist Edmund Moiret, in Hungarian Moiret Ödön, studied in Budapest with Albert Schickedanz, at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Edmund Hellmer (1902) and Hans Bitterlich and at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles with Herman Richir. In 1910, he received the Harkanyi Prize and in 1911 the Franz Josef Jubilee Prize from the city of Budapest. In 1911, he became a drawing professor at the University of Budapest, and in 1915 he worked at the trade drawing school there. In 1920 Moiret moved to Vienna, where he remained until his death. Here he became a member of the Künstlerhaus in 1941 which awarded him a gold medal in 1948. Moiret was married to Cornelia Chioreau.         A group of six medallions, Comprising: an Edmund Moiret (1883-1966) St George and the Dragon medallion, reverse plain, artists monogram, 7.9 x 5.9 cm; together with a patinated bronze medallion by K. Lang, with an aggressive looking man on horseback, the reverse with wounded man cast Rites Kreuz (Red Cross) Modling, 6.8 cm square; and a circular medallion awarded for Effort, signed Josue Dupon, reverse cast inscription Donated by the Municipality of Ledeberg 1939 for effort, 7.5 cm diameter; and a rectangular bronze medallion by Karl Perl, dated 1915 depicting a man with a Sword and entitled ‘Heldentod’ (heroic death), 6.5 x 4.5 cm; and a circular medallion by C. Stoeving, Berlin, showing a man holding scales, the reverse with inscription dated 1912; and a circular medallion with seated man and books, the reverse cast ‘Struck for the British Empire Exhibition 1924, Nobel Industries, PM artist initials, 3.5 cm diameter, (6) Some old marks, wear and rubbing to medallions.
