George Morland (b London 1763 –1804), Royal Academy student English school painter who was one of the most successful genre painters, known for his animals and rustic scenes, as well as his marine and landscape paintings. Painting and engraving are accompanied by 1960s Henri Tiercet Galleries Finder Form of Warranty with description of article. Title: The Warrener (refers to someone adept at catching rabbits in their warrens) Signed lower left in dark pigment, G. Moreland BR>This painting is sold with a Color mezzotint print engraved by George Morland’s brother-in-law, William Ward for the H.R.H. Duke of York. Ward engraved a great number of Morland’s paintings reproducing in print Morland’s endearing paintings of English country life. Ward's engravings after Morland are some of the most beautiful prints of the period combining fine technical skill creating enduring images of the taste and beauty of the age. Approximate Dimensions: Painting measures approximately 16 inches high by 20 1/8 inches wide gilt and gesso floral frame approximately 21 inches high by 25 inches wide by 2 1/4 inches deep. Framed print measures approximately 22 inches high by 26 inches wide by 1 1/8 inches deep behind matte finish glass with artists name lower left margin, tile bottom center margins and engraver lower right margin.
