Hugo Mühlig 1854 Dresden – 1929 Düsseldorf Aquarell auf leichtem Karton. Monogrammiert u.re. "H. Mg.", ortsbezeichnet sowie ausführlich datiert "Uebigau Sept. 79" u.li. Im Passepartout hinter Glas gerahmt. Die Arbeit wird in den Nachtrag zum WVZ Körs unter der Nr. 1241 aufgenommen. Dargestellt ist der Treidlerweg am rechtsseitigen Elbufer zwischen Lindenschänke und Schloss Übigau, etwa in Höhe des Dorfkerns Altübigau. Hugo Mühlig 1854 Dresden – 1929 Düsseldorf Erste Grundlagen künstlerischen Arbeitens erlernte M. bei seinem Vater, dem Maler Meno M., bevor er zum Studium der Malerei 1872 nach Dresden an die Akademie ging, wo er, nach einigen Unterbrechungen, 1880 bei Viktor Paul Mohn seinen Meisterabschluss ablegte. In seiner Zeichenkunst sind die Einflüsse der Dresdner Richter-Schule noch lange spürbar, wohingegen M., bedingt durch die baldige Übersiedlung nach Düsseldorf, in der Malerei schnell seine eigene Ausdrucksform fand. Die oft szenisch inszenierte Lichtwirkung seiner kleinformatigen Landschaften erinnert stark an impressionistische Kompositionen, Figuren und Tiere sind oft bühnenwirksam arrangiert. Durch zahlreiche Reisen angeregt, wurde M. Mitglied der hessischen Willingshauser Malerkolonie um Carl Bantzer.
