Roy Muncie Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1895 - d. 1977

Roy Muncie was born in Asherville, IN; a farm community just south-east of Brazil in Clay County. Mr. Muncie developed his artistic talent from an early age and some of his earliest works were fairly complex pen and ink drawings done in his early teens. He was married at the age of twenty in Terre Haute.
Roy was a commercial sign painter by trade. His signs and billboards were done in silk screens and all hand printed. His lifelong hobby and passion was painting. His preference was Indiana landscapes in oils but was equally proficient in watercolors as well.
Muncie was known never to leave the house without a sketch pad and a piece of charcoal so that he could briefly record scenes that he wanted to paint at a later time Mr. Muncie was a very well-known local artist in the community as well as a well-respected businessman. His son, Harold, joined in the family sign business and purchased the business upon Roy’s retirement.
Muncie continued to paint even after retirement when he and his wife moved to Maitland, FL, where he began to paint Florida landscapes well into his late 70s.
