Im Jahr 1989 begann der in Düsseldorf ansässige Bildhauer Wilhelm Mundt seine Serie der "Trashstones" mit der Nummer 001. Das vorliegende Werk mit der Nummer 011 gehört somit nicht nur zu den frühen Werken dieser Serie, sondern ist auch mit einer Länge von 240 cm eines der größten Objekte. Der Künstler stattete seinem Frühwerk am 30.4.2023 im Auktionshaus Mars einen Besuch ab und verriet, dass darin unter anderem das Kinderfahrrad seines Sohnes verarbeitet wurde. Die besondere grüne Farbe entstammt einer speziellen Mischung, die eigens für das vorliegende Werk zusammengestellt wurde. Der kleine Gusskanal ist ab, aber erhalten. Der dekorative Charakter gepaart mit der Botschaft, ausrangierte Gegenstände weiterzuverwenden, die in unserer Welt normalerweise als Abfall die Umwelt belasten, machen das Werk zu einem aktuellen Mahnmal. Das Foto, wie der Künstler das Objekt aus der Form löst, ist Teil des Loses / Wilhelm MUNDT (1959 Grevenbroich), title: Trashstone 011, plastic, signs of age, 100 x 100 x 240 cm. Provenance: Art collection Southern Germany. In 1989, the Düsseldorf-based sculptor Wilhelm Mundt began his series of ‘Trashstones’ with the number 001. The present work with the number 011 is therefore not only one of the early works in this series, but is also one of the largest objects with a length of 240 cm. The artist paid a visit to his early work at the Mars auction house on 30 April 2023 and revealed that, among other things, his son's children's bicycle was used in it. The unusual green colour comes from a special mixture that was created particularly for this work. The small moulding channel is off but preserved. The decorative character paired with the message of reusing discarded objects that normally pollute the environment as waste in our world make the work a contemporary memorial. The photo of the artist removing the object from its mould is part of the lot.
