      "Depression Saturday Night" Alice Harold Murphy (1896-1966)

      2 couples sitting at a table. Measures 15.5" x 18" overall. From Askart: " A chronicler of the Great Depression, she excelled in several mediums. She was an acknowledged printmaker and was featured in Albert Reese's book, "Prize Winning Prints of the 20th Century." For many years she sat on the graphic art juries on the Annual Exhibitions of the National Association of Woman Artists. She was the first woman ever to teach at the National Academy of Design. Her work is in numerous permanent collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Tiffany Foundation and The Library of Congress." Not examined out of frame.
