(1902-1984) A DOGFIGHT OVER THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE signed and dated l.r.: R.Murry/41 and with censor's label (verso) oil on canvas 51.0 x 61.0cm / 20 x 24in Richard Murry attended the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London studying book production with a scholarship. He later studied at the Slade, where he was also awarded a scholarship. He was the assistant secretary of the New English Art Club for several years, and was to become the secretary of the Art Workers Guild for many years later in his life. During the War, Murry served in the Royal Marines and in the Royal Naval Film Unit.
