      Cecilia Margaret Nairn (1791-1857) NEAR GLENTIES, COUNTY DONEGAL, 1850 (A PAIR) each signed and dated lower right; inscribed on reverse oil on panel 22 by 30cm., 8.75 by 12in. Provenance: De Vere's, Dublin, circa 1990 Daughter of John Henry Campbell (1757-1828) and wife of George Nairn ARHA (1799-1850), Cecilia Margaret Nairn studied art in her father's studio and began exhibiting at the age of eighteen. She specialised in picturesque Irish landscapes, showing them at the various Dublin exhibitions including the RHA. Strickland described her as "a clever painter in oil and watercolour" (Vol. II, page 162).
