Born in Greensboro, North Carolina on Christmas Eve, 1940, Allan attended North Carolina State University majoring in Design and Industrial Management. He began painting as a hobby in 1970 after receiving a set of acrylic paints for his birthday. However, it was not long until Allan realized that art was his "calling". A self-taught artist, he honed his God given talent through practice and self-study of fine art and painting techniques. In 1973, Allan left his salaried position to devote his life to painting. His unique method of using the egg tempera technique with acrylic paints and attention to detail, has earned him national acclaim and awards. His work is also included in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad. Allan lived in Ruffin, North Carolina for twenty eight years before moving to Wilmington in 2006 where he lives with his wife, Yvonne.
